Watch a short introduction to the ALMANAC platform, narrated by Smarty, one of the many smart bin sensors deployed in the City of Torino.

In the waste scenario, the ALMANAC Smart City Platform integrates sensor data on fill levels from waste containers and notifies the driver if thresholds are reached, offering an update of the collection route to solve the issue.

See a prototype demonstration of the ALMANAC waste management application showing the functions of the waste driver app and the citizen app.

The City of Turin have begun testing Smart City technologies for two underground waste containers. By installing an electronic locking system for unsorted waste and sensors monitoring the fill levels of the containers, the aim is to optimise the waste collection and to motivate users to sort waste correctly.

Marco Ferrero from the City of Turin was interviewed at the Ecomondo event. Hear him explain ALMANAC and the waste management application which was deployed in September 2015.
